A Queen Adreena audience by definition. Sultry masculine eyes caked with thick black eyeliner, anorexic midriffs bared underneath size 8 women’s slogan t-shirts, essentially teamed with floor length baggy jeans. Girls wearing hand-sewn lacy dresses and simple dolly shoes, the outfits neatly finished with glittering rose hair ornaments in true Katie-Jane stylee...

First onstage, and evidently bringing along a fair proportion of the audience is Sheffield home-growns’, Liquid Angel. They’ve got that whole goth/angst rock thing down to a tee. Korn riffs slashed with Placebo vocals and a few My Vitriol guitar effects thrown in for good measure. They’ve obviously not been together long enough to really develop a very unique sound… Not particularly interesting, but they’re not bad… And if all else fails for them, their singer does a mean Brian Molko impression.

So, Kinesis, eh? A lot has happened for these four since I last reviewed them. Having finished their schooling, they're now officially dedicated rawk stars. Rolling off the Biffy Clyro tour, straight back into the same pungent van to set off on the road with Queen Adreena. It’s not a bad situation to be in! With all new equipment that hasn’t yet had chance to be destroyed by Conor’s routine end-of-set guitar-shot-put demonstrations, for perhaps the first time, I can actually hear clearly what the music is meant to sound like. Crisp, clean and as clear as a bell. And, y’know what? They don’t half scrub up well.

Moving on from the days of ‘Worship Yourself’, Kinesis are beginning to develop a much tighter, more mature sound. Lots of new songs, bags more confidence and still enough ambition and level-headed views to take it to the top. If they haven’t managed to charm you to the point of blatent adoration before they’ve even got onstage, a set like this simply can’t fail… And this is only the beginning!

Finally taking to the stage is tonight's headliner’s, Queen Adreena, who’s set went a little something like… this!
