If all was right with the world, Sucioperro would not be merely known as Biffy Clyro's Ayrshire neighbours. True, Sucio are also masters of the quiet/loud brand of rock, not to mention beautiful three way harmonies and achingly raw guitar lines, but they are not mere Clyro copyists - they are leagues ahead of any other 'local' band that you've never heard of, and deserve to have your full aural attention. Screaming, scraping, whispering and lulling their way into your brain like a silent ten ton drill, they make a beautiful racket that will not leave you for days, weeks, or even years; frontman JP "The Dragon" Reid has a voice that's angelic yet angry - at times it sounds like he is Neil Finn on crack, in the best way possible. A whirlwind of emotional honesty blasts forth from every little crack in the speakers, and it seems that everbody, and I mean everybody, here tonight has come for one band. Yes, Sucio really are that good. Highlights include the slow burning 'Capable Of More' and the big-fucking-smack-to-the-face that is presented in 'Hangover', both of which feature on their DiS approved 'Why Bliss Destroy' EP. It's time to add Sucio to the list of 'Scottish bands that kick arse'.

Unfortunately, most of the crowd were indeed here to see Sucioperro, which posed headliners Jerry-Built with a bit of a problem - do they play a shortened, half-arsed set, or play like it was their last gig ever? Thankfully for those who were lucky enough to hang about and witness it, the 'Built plumped for the latter. Providing a well received burst of keyboard-driven-emo-pop, Jerry-Built appear to have enough energy in them to give the Duracell rabbit a run for his money - keyboardist/mentalist Tall Dave runs off stage and terrorises the crowd with effervescent dancing/jumping/screaming at every opportunity, and singer/guitarist Andy has mastered the art of pulling-off-rock-shapes-while-remaining-the-coolest-fucker-in-the-room down to a tee. The bouncy, Get-Up-Kids style hit-single in waiting 'Receivers' sounds as exuberant as it does on record, and 'A Is B' sounds the way that every happy emo record (is there such a thing?) ever written should have sounded like. 'Patience' is like the bastard offspring of Hot Water Music and 'A', and 'Marriage' doesn't sound as bad as the title suggests - in fact, it's probably better than it's namesake. It's a shame that the band have only got about 40 minutes worth of material in total (and only play about 30), because you feel like you could dance with Tall Dave all night.

Bassist and comic book fanatic Sami swigs beer all the way through tonight's show, so watch and learn. Grab a beer, sit back, and let Jerry-Built do all the entertaining for you.

Jerry-Built + Sucioperro - Glasgow King Tut's Wah Wah Hut

Am i the only person who found the keyboardist to be possibly the scariet man alive and also the music to be even scarier?? just curious

Re: Jerry-Built + Sucioperro - Glasgow King Tut's Wah Wah Hut

Oh and....sucio well should havee been headlining.. would have kicked the dull as days old dishwater jerrybuilt ass!! does that make any sense?

Re: Jerry-Built + Sucioperro - Glasgow King Tut's Wah Wah Hut

Not to me, I prefer Jerry-Built. The only valid reason I saw for Sucio headlining was the fact that tons of their mates/local supporters were there. It was as close to a hometown show as they could have wished for.

And Dave. Yes, he is scary.

Re: Jerry-Built + Sucioperro - Glasgow King Tut's Wah Wah Hut

if u call 40-50 miles from home a hometown gig that is. the only valid reason any1 headlines tuts is who has the biggest tiket sales +it was about 6 to 1 for sucio so no nastiness plse. what goes around come around.peace

Re: Jerry-Built + Sucioperro - Glasgow King Tut's Wah Wah Hut

Don't blame us for the fact we were headlining... we don't chose where we are on a bill, the promoter does...
