...Donna, the one who got sacked by Elastica for shooting up too many times finally decides to leave the confines of NW1 with her latest project KLANG, who sound like The Fall being played by people who are still in the infant stages of learning what the difference between repetitive A minor and arpeggio broad are, and yet still manage to provide some mildly enjoyable Can-nisms during their 20 minute set.
Which cannot be said of the EX-MODELS. Yeah, playing a set of random chords while two blokes scream, gargle and choke incessantly into the mic may be fun and cool and sOOOO iRONNNNNNIC but it's also unlistenable and you know when a joke becomes boring and repetitive - like when you hear it 20 times told in the same manner by the same person - well imagine 25 minutes of this tuneless shite rammed down your throat by people who really ought to know better...exactly.
But then thank Christ for ERASE ERRATA, the missing link between Huggy Bear, Bratmobile and possibly The Dixie Chicks (well, they wear matching fluorescent costumes and all hate President Bush at any rate). There's a poetic semblance throughout their set that David Byrne and Jerry Harrison used to resonate many years ago, while 'Delivery' sounds like the tune Courtney Love wishes she'd been able to write (or maybe persuade her late hubby to pen before persuading him that a bullet was the answer instead?) but still, their onstage mannerisms, part Elvis-in-drag, part Carry On Matron, make an interesting spectacle that you wouldn't expect to find at your local Ritzy, and therefore provides an encouraging reason to persuade others to follow Erase Errata into the world of intangibly faux cabaret.
