Songs such as 'So it Goes' and 'Someday' are full of head-nodding melodic interplay between two ‘clean’ guitars combined with a charismatically husky/nasal northern snarl. Quintessentially this is the sound of Northern Mod, but also the sound being championed by a large group of bands in both Manchester and Liverpool who would like to see UK indie back on the Britpop map. A noticeable laid-back fluidity in all six songs beckons a fruitful future of song-writing for 50 Leaves, who, it cannot be argued, are technically excellent for such a youthful band.
