Let's face it, Britpop has left a lasting impression on every single one of us. Whether that be the skin-popping dynamicism of Trainspotting or the nascent Marriott & Lane pilfering of Ocean Colour Scene, or even Gareth Southgate's badly scuffed penalty, 1996 was a memorable year.

Which is where Leeds based four piece Coburn come in.
Like the permaplexed excited junior siblings of brothers Coombes and Cradock, Coburn pay homage to their parents' heroes of the past and yet subtly give it a more orthodox and modern variation that is more reticent than retrospective.

The title track 'Welcome To The Ivy League' may offer some bilateral spate of homage to distant uncles' heroes past but, in actual fact, provides an insight into Coburn's psyche - subverting the past's flimsy waffle-a-day plaintive posturing with the Cooper Temple Clause's obtrusive vertuosity.

The more strait-laced 'Pan-Am' suggests a manouvre into Mavers territory that the great scouse recluse could well do without, so beware, the rooster Coburn is coming to get ya.

Coburn - Welcome To The Ivy League

Great Band - fasntastic Music !!!

Went to see them at Josephs well, they were brilliant and the place was packed which gave it great atmosphere.

Coburn - Welcome To The Ivy League

Great demo, liked Pan Am more so.

Heard from members of Leeds based band 'HI-FM' that Coburn sound fantastic live and this demo gives them no justice,(even though still bloody good!)

Also found out their good mates with the 'Kaiser Chiefs', so they have good roots!!

Hope to see them at some point in the near future.

Coburn - Welcome To The Ivy League

Great live performance @ hi fi club in leeds!

I was lucky enough to get tickets to their resident night Gravy Outrageous which sold out in a flash.

mind blowing performance and Neat in your face tracks, an all round ACE Band!!

Coburn - Welcome To The Ivy League

I knew nothing about this band, a mate of mine who fell ill insisted i had the tickets to this gravy outrageous thing. I was a bit reticent because of the whole 'mod' thing and went in with a very negative attitude. However, i was pleasently suprised to have a fantastic night. Coburn took all my preconceptions and blew them out of the window, they were far more contemporary than most of these bands who claim to be cutting edge. The lead singer and keyboard player make one of the best double acts i've seen - think jagger&richards crossed with williams&hawtrey. Thanks to the bass player who i blagged that micro-cd off - top stuff, cheers mate.
