Found rocking discreetly in Leeds when DiS Records lot Redjetson last hit Yorkshire, I Like Trains offer the sort of fragile beauty that would melt the most frozen of hearts. The five piece melded together 18 months ago, summised by a love of music ‘progressively English and glacially Icelandic’.

Tracks like ‘Oh The Humanity’ and ‘Taking The Day’ are largely measured and downbeat, but hold at their centres a poise and strength that draw a wistful sigh and a hopeful glare into the sun.

Live, the band offer natty British Rail outfits (eat your leaves, twigs and heart out, British Sea Power), and a selection of tastefully horrifying disaster movies via a clunking, aged projector. Vision and scope by way of Hope Of The States round the council house for tea. One astute writer said thus: “"Oh the Humanity" is an obvious top ten hit – scalable technology, coherent ethical framework, a dash of the dismals and a chorus you can shout your head off to.”

I Like Trains will be playing the Drowned In Sound Brave New Ideas night at 93 Feet East, London on Thursday, Januuary 13th. We reckon you might want to check them out.

These guys are great - if you like beautiful, sweeping, glacial rock I urge you to check them out in January... and lovely guys too!

Doesn't exactly grab you either with melody or the rasping emotion though it's nice enough. To most people, this would sound like the epitomy of 'indie music'.

Yet another great Leeds band you can look out for. Their videos are rather unbelievable too.

Really love Taking The Day, the others are nice too although one of them sounded like it was trying too hard to be Ny Batteri at first

Re: I Like Trains - New bands that we like:

noone can do ny batteri, best sigur song, especially live. not that i've seen it live, mind.

Re: I Like Trains - New bands that we like:

yeah - liking the sound - one of the songs sounds really like a doves song - not sure which off the top off my head as I'm shite with titles!

Very nice indeed. I am a huge - Sigur Ros, Mogwai, Explosions In The Sky fan so this fits in nicely, but it is very good, it's not ordinary, it's better than that.
