One man, a guitar and a laptop: it’s a bit of a craze at the moment. Pretty much everyone with a PC has announced themselves as the next big thing. And it would seem that, when it’s done badly, it’s very, very bad and when it’s done well, it’s stunning. Southampton based ManVersusNature (aka Eddie Warren), falls into the latter category.

A bit of strumming and some clicks here and there have created a virtual day dream. I’m mean that euphoric, hazy, summer day feeling of floating on a cloud. I’m not talking Care Bears sliding down rainbows here, this is the sort of pastel coloured optimism that is so beautifully emotive and simple but is so difficult to create.

This EP combines the sort of progressing chords and orbiting beats of Air with the misty effect-laden heaven of My Bloody Valentine, then manages to lace it with a twee indie-pop Shins vibe. It is proof positive that sometimes a suggestion means so much more than an actuality, and that music which leads the mind into a world of escapism is often the most valuable.

Basically, there are two things to be done with ManVersusNature, and both are pretty damn special – Either play it in a cave somewhere in France and charge £10 a time with the promises of Angel chorus and a spiritual awakening, or simply stick it on the stereo, lie back on your bed, pretend it isn’t pissing it down outside and enjoy the sunshine.

ManVersusNature - ManVersusNature

Hah, awesome. I'm very pleased for this guy, he's very cool and very talented. It's best listened to late at night when you feel like you're about to drift off in a dreamy world. His remixing skills are very good also, as demonstrated on his Busta Rhymes remix which makes me boogie like John Travolta when is totally addicted to bass. Which if course is everyday.
