It’s been an arduous journey for Snow Patrol, beginning with their 1998 debut release ‘Little Hide’ and taking in an ever-running, insidious trek from toilet to toilet without ever really gaining the recognition or commercial success their undoubted talents merited.
Last year they put out their third album (‘Final Straw’) to little or no avail, despite most of the critics, myself included, creaming their pants to the point whereby the stains became irremovable, the general public’s ignorance (indifference?) probably highlighted when ‘Run’’s predecessor ‘Spitting Games’ came on the radio in the office and one of my colleagues was heard to remark that “that Stereophonics’ new single is the best thing they’ve done in ages...”
Philistines, the lot of you, because believe me, Snow Patrol will have their day. It may not be pre-empted by this single, but if there is any justice this will sit pretty in a Top Ten currently enamoured with daytime karaoke treats, sticking out like a sore thumb up Michelle McManus’ fat arse and thankfully ensuring Pete Waterman leaves the country rather than the safe confines of Carlton Television studios, luvvy.

Plus, it's better than Spitting Games, and that at least got top 75.

Re: Snow Patrol - Run
this is intolerable dross. i cant even applaud it from a "getting rock into the charts" perspective. its just plain desperate, and not in an awesome way.
spitting games had a nice element of MBV rippyoffyness, so i think the band is capable of greater goals than a top ten clapoldy homage

Still, this is the only thing of theirs I've actually heard, so I won't judge them too soon.

But the fact of the matter is it's a deserved number 5. And I can't imagine many bands on this site get number 5.
Oh, and some people are never satisfied.

the coldplay comparison is starting to grate though.... as much as i like coldplay, snow patrol have been around longer and the rest of the album final straw is nothing really like coldplay's stuff.
I highly recommend checking them out.... the current and the back catalogue stuff and then go on to the reindeer section it's utterly brilliant aswell:D

I think Run's a great song, for the record.

Real good review.
Problem w/ Run
Hi,
Here's my problem. I have 3 friends who, like myself, love this song. But our interpretations of its meaning vary from leaving a girlfriend to eloping to giving a child up for adoption. Any insights????? THANKS
my insight:
you're a loser. songs have whatever meaning you want to ascribe to them, you can't be "wrong" per say.
She is dying
When I hear this song, I think of: A young couple after a car crash in a remote place. The crash was his fault (speeding doing a winding mountain road). She's lying on the ground mangled and barely alive. He's in better shape and feels compelled to find help.
He tells her that he must go but she insists that he stay there with her. "Slower...slower... we don't have time for that." "Your bound to be afraid even for a few days." He knows he has or else they will both die but he knows there is a good chance she will die while he's gone. "We'll run for our lives." She is the one who dies and leaves him.
Feel free to disrespectfully disagree.
Please restrict your use of profanity
No need to get your pants in a ruffle. It is just a song.
