Welcome back then, to those smiley troubadours The Polyphonic Spree; bringing their own particular brand of lobotomised shit-grinning joy-pop. ‘Hold Me Now’ is about an unhappy person, who should, like, be really happy, cos, like, the world’s actually an alright place. Thanks, Tim Delaughter.

Having to listen to The Polyphonic Spree is akin to slashing your wrists to a Disney movie, it’s one hell of a warped endurance test. What I don’t understand is, if there’s about 17,000 members of the Polyphonic Spree, how come their songs always sound like they were recorded by a four-piece from Camden with 5 children singing backing vocals? And how on earth do they feed everyone? Not with this spiritual gruel, I tell thee.
