With taut strumming and a throbbing bass line, Children's Children is a post-modern punk offering that seems to desperately want to have a nihilistic view.

Unfortunately, less can be said about the whimsical vocals, which vent as much enthusiasm as a deflated, battered and bruised space hopper that’s truly had the fun squeezed out of it.

With the overall message “What we tell our children’s children” hinting at some sort of re-hashed half-hearted 6th form politics, this lacks any sort of potency or social bearing on everyday life.

A best it just reeks of mediocre rock that is apathetically dull.

Agent Blue - Children’s Children

I have to say I quite like this song and I quite like this band. Certainly above average punkpop fare, better than anything of the same variant from across the pond.

Re: Agent Blue - Children’s Children

its out 7th march not 21st feb.

Agent Blue - Children’s Children

Hi, i'm new to Dis and new to Agent Blue who i only saw last week in Nottingham and fuck they were amaing, much better than the others who they wasted.

Why have you let this person review such an awesome new band and a great new singe in such an apathetic and shit way? It clearly isn't doing AB any favours and fair enough you don't have to it's a free world but i would prefer DiS if i'm going to be a regular reader to focus on the good and the positive in music and not just be a horrible littler cooler and than cool clique.
You clearly have an editorial agenda like the NME for certain bands - bloc party, kaiser chiefs and so on - so why not for Agent Blue?

How ironic she's says the lyrics are sixth form when the standard of the review is fifth form... And why do we have to have social relevancy or potency to everyday life eh? Like fuckin Helicopter or Banquet does or Hounds of Love or Take Me Out. Like fuck they do...It's just a great song love, great melody, driving guitars, nothing wrong with it at all, sticks in yer head like great singles should? Talk about being wide of the mark!!

Has this person seen AB live, clearly not, apathetic and dull is not what you'd use to describe them. Save that for your so called cool bloc party and KC's bands. Both apathetic, dull and over-rated.....

I wonder whether Battle will ever receive any lukewarm reviews on here? I'll watch with great interest to see if DiS promotes freedom of speach universally among its reviewers or whether some bands are more deserved of a clear totally praised path to glory than others.....

Re: Agent Blue - Children’s Children

what a shit comment.

Re: Agent Blue - Children’s Children

Live, I think that Agent Blue are a very, very good band. On record though, I'm not sure they've hit the same highs. (Though I haven't heard the album). THe Sex Drugs and Rocks Through Your Window single is excellent though.

Agent Blue - Children’s Children

AB are a good live band though.... would much rather see them getting on than sh#t like The Bravery. I mention them because i think the singers bare some resemblance.

'A Stolen Honda Vision' is also a great album title.

Agent Blue - Children’s Children

Well i thought it was quite a reasonable comment actually Mr or Mrs Brusma so unless you've got something more to add to the argument about AB i suggest you do one sharpish!

A Stolen Honda Vision is a classic album title dare i say it...

Re: Agent Blue - Children’s Children

I didn't think it was a resaonable comment for several reasons:

1. the whole point of a review is it's subjective.
2. DiS doesn't have an agenda and it is far more ecletic than the NME, you only have to read it for a few days to discover it.
3. what bearing does a band's live act have on a single?
4. the point here is that the song is trying to be political: take me out isn't.

Re: Agent Blue - Children’s Children

"All fact is already theory."
Goethe

Everyone has an agenda. Sorry that's well pretentious isn't it? I'll leave it.

Agent Blue - Children’s Children

Its a shame this review's not so great. Nevermind. The songs not actually as bad as its been made out to be, worth buying if anyones into a late 70s punk sound.

I doubt anyone will disagree they're better than the others.

Re: Agent Blue - Children’s Children

Agent Blue are fucking ace.
I don't think they give two shites about student politics.
Which this reviewer clearly does.
Achhh.

Re: Agent Blue - Children’s Children

this is the best thread ever! thank you all for brightening my day.

Agent Blue - Children’s Children

I've had enough of 'FOR THE PEOPLE!' bands.
Bring back the Genesis-era wankery.

Agent Blue - Children’s Children

ok just 2 start off with im not gonna read anymore of this reviewers reviews cos they aint got a clue what they r talkin about . this song is amazing big guitars and catchy guitar riffs brilliant melodies that any great song would be proud of and thats all i need in a song . quote"With the overall message “What we tell our children’s children” hinting at some sort of re-hashed half-hearted 6th form politics, this lacks any sort of potency or social bearing on everyday life. hahahahaha do u think some 14-16 yr olds gonna go in school monday morning and go hello fredrick that agent blues new song is re-hashed half-hearted 6th form politics, it lacks any sort of potency or social bearing on my life. hhahaha i dont think so. average joe doesnt care about lyrics or the politics in a song and i know 4 a fact the 5 20 yr olds from stoke dont either . i think the overall msg in the song is just sayin that our generation needs to be more carefull otherwise the future generations will have nothing left . i cant really see what the problem with sayin that is . Agent Blue dont write political songs they write good tunes and thats exactly what this is . No1 cares about lyrics in bloc party songs - rivarto , note to self(mclusky rip off) dont like chocolate hahaha i mean how does that have any impact or social bearing on any1s life lol how about KC-oh my god i cant believe it ive never been this far away from home ? whats that all about ? so why do Agent Blue get picked on for it even though their lyrics are much better than those ive just thought of another franz ferdinand-i say dont u know u say u dont know i say , take me out . yeah..... ok boss........ whatever .
DULL ????????? hahaha Agent Blue r the most exciting bands around and so is this single .
keep it up Agent Blue your doing good ........ real good .

Agent Blue - Children’s Children

so why do Agent Blue get picked on for it .

oh its cos there from Stoke not London .

Agent Blue - Children’s Children

Jesus frickin Christ what a pile of shite DiS is becoming. Do you all sit around and decide who hates a band most before giving them the opportunity to review their latest single?
Of course, that doesn't go for people like Bloc Party, who get special party-political broadcasts sent out via e-mail.
Utter crap.
Read this absolutely awful review again and what does it actually tell you?

Agent Blue are a post-modern punk band with a throbbing bass line. Amazing. Thanks for shedding some light on that.

If you're going to review a single, review it, don't just slag off a band cos you don't like them.

Agent Blue - Children’s Children

if i hear the words "6th form politics" one more time...

Agent Blue - Children’s Children

Well I quite like it. The song that is, not politics.

Agent Blue - Children’s Children

Yeah... erm you're wrong. Simple as that. Agent Blue are mint. Children's children is a quality song. Better than Franz Ferdinand anyway. I f you don't like the lyrics then listen to "something else": "a shiny bit fantastic far more colourful in plastic" ace.
traa

Agent Blue - Children’s Children

who eva wrote dis review wants a good shag coz there obviously fusteratd and taking it out on other people. agent blue are mint and there one of the best things to come out of stoke. stoke is proud to have the chance to say dat ab came from hear so fuck wat dis wanker is sayin and keep doin wat u du best...rockin!. i went to c ab at the charity concert at vic-hall in stoke n they were ace. they were the best part of the night n i hope to c them again soon. cant wait till the album is released!. the review is shit and so is the person that wrote it! i agree with 'let us rock'. 'if your gona revw revw dont slag the band of coz u dont like them'...so true! go and see them live and you will soon change your mind! the atmosper was buzzin wen i went to see them and they are and were truly origanal and brilliant!!!!!!!!

Agent Blue - Children’s Children

This is the worst review I have ever read, I can't believe journalism is meant to be so hard to get into when there are people in it who write shite like this.

What is this review meant to tell us exactly, apart from you personally not liking agent blue?

Agent Blue - Children’s Children

blimey
it's just one person's opinion innit?
