A dirty-knee’d rock ‘n’ roll racket, ‘Speed To Roam’ is as rampant a return to singles action as one could hope for from ex-Royal Trux-er Jennifer Herrema. Style-over-substance suckers limp-wristedly ripping up throwback rulebooks, take note: this is punker-than-fuck rock. It’s not setting fire to already furious flames, it’s starting a blaze all of its own.

Jen is one mean gal, man, and from below a collapsing wall of West Coast surf guitars, recently relocated to NYC, and backalley dumpster drums she’s about ready to pop one off - her voice, born of gargling r’n’r poison every night since ’88; her attitude, punked to perfection. Fashion-maggers, hop off here; with Jen back in business, punk is too filthy for the likes of you.

RTX - Speed To Roam

yay for this song!

i actually think this is really pop and should be on MTV...
not sure how jennifer herrema would go down on CDUK though.

Ok diver, always thought you were a bit of a misinformed tosspot, and now you've proved it. 'style over substance suckers' 'fashion maggers hop-off' you pompously write. Whilst most of us could struggle to put together a 20-track compilation of good royal trux tunes, we could all have easily turned to the pages of any glossy fashion-mag a few years ago and seen the 'punker-than-fuck rock' jennifer gracing the pages in adverts for calvin klein or H&M.

Re: RTX - Speed To Roam

royal trux were class!

ok, so about half the albums they put out were a bit tedious but that leaves about 6!

i've sure diver knew about the modelling and the fact that RTX played a fashion party last month though, right?

Re: RTX - Speed To Roam

T'was kinda tongue-in-cheek...

Re: RTX - Speed To Roam

...also, them playing a fashion mag gig - whatever - matters nothing. RTX, and Royal Trux before, are/is as punk as punk can be, basically.
Remember when RT signed to a major? Remember the albums they delivered?
Punk as FUCK.
Said throwbacks - and you know who they are - would be well advised to refer more to acts like RT rather than the shock-and-awe-ers of the late 70s.

Nice day, isn't it?

RTX - Speed To Roam

My beef's not with royal trux, they wrote some amazing songs (about 20, ok, maybe 30), but with the fact that no matter what bulls**t herrema came out with, websites like this would cream over it just cos they think it's cool cos she's, so, like, filthy as fuck and not fashion. Well, no matter what anyone says, selling your ass to calvin klein and h&m kinda throws that outta the window.

Re: RTX - Speed To Roam

That's got nothing to do with the music, though.
Which, from what I recall, barely compromised an inch.

RTX - Speed To Roam

t'was kinda toungue-up-jennifers-arse cheeks.

Re: RTX - Speed To Roam

*applauds*

RTX - Speed To Roam

But 'punk' has and always will be more than just 'all about the music'. As you quite rightly say, punk is too filthy for the likes of fashion-maggots (many of whom don't wash much and like their class A's like good ol' jen - don't make em punk tho), but how much more fashion and non-punk can you get than doing ck adverts? That was my point - just riled me a bit;)
