Basement Jaxx: Oh My Gosh

Well it’s business as usual for Basement Jaxx. Driving, farty bass loop, clunky drum machine and a chorus that nags at you like a blister from a new pair of shoes.

They’ve proved themselves masters of the dumb pop single in the past – records that make you smile even if they don’t make you think. But with 'Oh My Gosh' the smile’s started to freeze over, like the one you get when people make you look through their holiday photos.

Okay, that might be a bit unfair - the airhead lyrics are quite funny - but this is pretty average stuff for them.

Basement Jaxx - Oh My Gosh

It would be difficult for me to hate Basement Jaxx more. I have a fairly high tolerance, but music that sounds like a middle-aged clown's diarrhoea episode should not be allowed.

Basement Jaxx - Oh My Gosh

The most irritating, middle-of-the-road dance act ever. Possibly excepting Faithless and Groove Armada.

Re: Basement Jaxx - Oh My Gosh

Oh, be quiet. 'Lucky Star' is as far from being middle-of-the-road as any pop record of the last few years. Mentioning them in the same breath as dullards like Faithless and Groove Armada does them a great disservice.

WRONG!

Basement Jaxx - Oh My Gosh

basement jaxx r shite. faithless r quite cool.

Basement Jaxx - Oh My Gosh

basement jaxx are the best dance act for years

chemical brothers, faithless, groove armada, lemon jelly, red snapper, etc are all very very ordinary. "remedy" is one of the best electronic albums of the last decade, whilst some of the third album also did some things that many other bands of late would fail to even touch

ever seen them live? trust me, you'd be impressed. i rank them up alongside early idlewild, lightning bolt, orbital, underworld, le tigre, shellac, mogwai, bright eyes, yyy's etc as one of THE live bands of our generation.....

they've had a few duff tracks sure, but name someone who hasn't?

this by the way, isn't one of them

Basement Jaxx - Oh My Gosh

funky funk, fresh as ever and adds sum depth in my mainly indie/rock cd collection
