The Bravery: Fearless

Three singles in and chances are you’ve already decided whether you like the Bravery or not, what with all the band catfight blather and 'An Honest Mistake'’s blanket airplay. Whichever side of the fence you’re on 'Fearless' won’t change your mind; built around a ghostly synth riff, it chugs along at a pleasant if predictable rate, coming on more Duran Duran than any other band you could mention.

The problem is, it’s so slickly put together that any attempt to engage with the song just slides off it’s shiny surface. Which may be the point – the "I know that’s why you love me chico" chorus coupled with a speedboat-laden video brings to mind disposable eighties pop glamour of a very fashionable variety. While this may well see it follow its predecessor into the charts, whether it floats your…er…boat probably depends on whether you like your bands to at least look like they dress themselves.

The Bravery - Fearless

i think this band are essentially rubbish, but it is a VERY cool video, so that's most important, hehe

Re: The Bravery - Fearless

Cool video - are you serious? It sure is hilarious in a self-indulgent way. Please tell me they've got their tongues in their cheeks and they're taking the piss, if not they are some arrogant fools with very bad taste...

...but Cool? I think not.

Re: The Bravery - Fearless

oh yeah, it's a totally indulgent and shallow vid, but i just liked the shots from the side, thought it was pretty good camera-work

The Bravery - Fearless

MY GOD!! Are these guys still peddling their own brand of new romantic cock rock!!

This seems pretty apt right now...

TWATS!

The Bravery - Fearless

considering the shitness of Duran Durans comeback, i have decided that the Bravery are O-K. who shall i hate instead...

The Bravery - Fearless

Quite like them. Seeing them next week. Mmmhmm. Nice to see they're riling some people.

The Bravery - Fearless

The video is rubbish yes. And they are ridiculous posers, which is quite funny to watch. Not bad tunes though... "No Breaks" being my personal favourite. This ones not bad, but its hardly their best effort.

The Bravery - Fearless

I like the video. Thats the only thing I like.

The Bravery - Fearless

I just don't have the energy to slag off the Bravery any more. It's just not worth the effort.

The Bravery - Fearless

they're not THAT bad. got me dancin'!
wouldn't buy the record though.

The Bravery - Fearless

I can't believe the amount of crap this band is getting. I went to see them before all the fuss started so I was able to get an untainted perspective on it. It was one of the best gigs I had been to in a long time.

And they've got tunes. What is the problem?

Re: The Bravery - Fearless

bwahahahahahahahaha!

Re: The Bravery - Fearless

I posted this back in Feb:

"I went to see these guys in Newcastle last night, and i can tell you i am far far from impressed. I went their full of expectation, and returned very angry. This band were either too pissed to play their instruments, or they REALLY CAN'T play their instruments. The singer was prouncing round the stage singing out of tune, and sometimes missing the mike completely (plenty of drop out). The guitarist was ok with the melodies (when he actually managed to keep in time with the drummer) but whenever he attempted a solo, he fluffed it!! Yet still he stood there all proud and smirking!!! The bassist, hahaha... what a joke! He was so drunk he didn't know what he was doing and seemed more interested in drinking his 'many' bottles of beer on stage! Shambolic!! The keyboardist!! Well, how hard was it to press a few buttons? I felt sorry for the drummer, he played his heart out while all around him fell to bits! This was you're chance to really impress boys, and you failed!! Sadly, i think far too many young gilrs and boys will eat this up and not notice they are being disrespected.

Sorry, but you stank big time!!!"

I really can't see how they could have changed since i wrote that

Re: The Bravery - Fearless

Seen the band twice now, one on each UK tour. Both excellent each time. They're showmen understand? Every band can have a bad gig, its shallow minded people like you who just make a band get an unfavourable reputation.

The Bravery - Fearless

I loved it when they played this live. When I first heard it / saw the video, I began to hate them. But after seeing them, this song seems brilliant.

Forget the image,

forget the video and forget the dodgy makeup...Bravey is probably the only band around at the moment who are extremely tuneful. It's a shame that their music lacks originality - it sounds like a punk version of Cure. the vocals sound too much like robert smith or U2 which is a shame because i think he has a really good voice. despite all that, they manage to sound really fresh i think.

Fickle Indie Fans.....

......don't like the Bravery because NME tells them not too.

There are so many NME 'Ringtone' bands that people love, and if a band does not fit this ilk, as the Bravery do not, they love to slag them off.

Do you remember? YOU fickle indie types had a backlash against the strokes aswell when they became a bit more popular?

The Bravery are an awesome band. They have some great songs, and they fluorish on their more dreamy pop songs like 'No Brakes'.

It is fine that people don't like them. Glad they get up peoples backs, saved them from the FICKLE indie SNOBS.
