Reuben have returned with their new single proper from their second album, and it is brought forth in their inimitable style: angry and wholly unambiguous lyrics delivered with ferocity and guile in equal measure over a truly thunderous bassline and Foo Fightery guitars. The lush, memorable melodies, the highly (in)appropriate social commentaries courtesy of Jamie Lenman et al and the new beefed up sound should be a sure fire summer hit with the kids down the front during their imminent headlining appearance in a tent at Download Festival. Everyone knows that it will never be Reuben's year but it's always fun to imagine that it might be.

Reuben - A Kick In The Mouth

Sadly that last sentence is true, but i will continue to support and buy their stuff as long as it continues to be this darn good.

Reuben - A Kick In The Mouth

I love Reuben. Criminally under-rated, like many bands around at the moment.

Reuben - A Kick In The Mouth

Reuben - A Kick In The Mouth

these new songs are all growers from what ive heard so far ... and all of them are awesome.

saw them in newcastle last night and they got the best response theyve ever had from a geordie headline show and this song has been stuck in my head at work all day

Re: Reuben - A Kick In The Mouth

Were you at the same gig as everyone else?See Spinynormans comment on Strange bedfellows thread.I totally agree they were shite and people left early.Support band was much better.

Reuben - A Kick In The Mouth

The thing I don't like about Reuben is that they can be great, but only when they do straight forward pop/rock songs (let's stop hanging out, freddy kruger, a few more from the last album) but when they try to do anything else they just sound so mediocre.

VFVD

i reckon the more technical, longer songs on VFVD disproves this as songs like 'Some mothers' and 'Return of the jedi' are Much much more than simple pop rock, and the boys totally excell at the ol ehm...prog-grunge.

ahem.
