Editors: Blood

As if they never went away, Birmingham's Editors return in double quick time to remind us just why they are THE singles band of 2005.

Whilst not being as immediate as 'Munich' was, 'Blood' follows in the footsteps of both its predecessors in that sure enough, the musos out there have something to moan about. No doubt spotting the odd Peter Hook bassline here or an Edge (U2) bottom stringed A# there, but regardless of any reference points from bygone days, the Editors' sound is distinctive and instantly recognisable.

Surely if that isn't the sign of a potentially great artist, then what is?

Editors - Blood

This is one of my favorite tracks from the album... i knew it was gonna be the next single!

Re: Editors - Blood

"The Editors' sound is distinctive and instantly recognisable"

As Joy Division

How come Jet are shit but all these JD rip-off bands aren't?

*coughs*

Re: Editors - Blood

To be honest I haven't heard this...

I'll therefore take back the above statement.

Re: Editors - Blood

jet are shit cos jet are shit

Re: Editors - Blood

All Sparks and Camera are my current faves, but the whole album is amazing!

Re: Editors - Blood

Great single from a great album.

Editors - Blood

This is my favourite track on the good-but-slightly-patchy album.

Catchy stuff.

Editors - Blood

Not convinced by these guys. There's something of the being signed at the back end of the new-wave/post-punk buzz to try and sell a few, before the inevitable cull will take care of them about these guys.

Editors - Blood

Amazing band. Have left Interpol, Departure etc trailing in their wake long ago. Already the musical find of 2005 and a cracking single this is to boot.

Editors - Blood

Yes all their stuff is very catchy indeed, but I find the novelty wears off quickly.

They are nowhere near as good as Interpol. You just cannot compare the quality of songs on "The Back Room" to "Turn On The Bright Lights" or "Antics".

The back room to me seems to have followed a very shallow song writing formula. The songs are short and catchy, yes, but at the end of the day there is not much substance.

Re: Editors - Blood

agreed, they'ev got a long way to go to match TOTBL. but if interpol release another Antics then the tables might turn.

Editors - Blood

" at the end of the day there is not much substance"

Yeah you are right,i played the back room after playing substance and they dont sound(much)alike.

Re: Editors - Blood

i wld agree Interpol are in a different league to Editors, something about them i just don't like, the songs don't hold my attention, i actually turned over when they were on T4 the other day

Re: Editors - Blood

Awesome song. Three flawless singles in a row. My guess for next single is Fingers In The Factories.

Re: Editors - Blood

I have to agree with moribund. When I heard Munich, I liked it because it sounded like Joy Division (who I was just getting into at the time). This latest one doesn't appeal though. I think comparing them to Interpol is inaccurate. Interpol's actual sound is superior to Editors' I think.

Editors - Blood

and then a re release of munich.

Re: Editors - Blood

maybe bullets...munich got top 20 almost, and so far the singles that get released havent done THAT well first time around

actually, prove me wrong, they probably have

and i'm waiting on kasabian to rerelease LSF...theyve done all the others!

Editors - Blood

Editors are RUBBISH, i never thought I'd actively dislike a Joy Division knock off and yet I do as they sound like a board meeting at the NME.

Re: Editors - Blood

Well said !

Editors - Blood

When I saw them supporting Oceansize, I would have to say they were nothing more than distinctly average. Good, but absolutely nothing stuck. I've heard various things on several occasions and still nothing sinks in. It'd be interesting to see whether or not the music press attempts an assassination of their career in two years' time.

Editors - Blood

They don't offend because I've never been a big Joy Division fan but when I first heard 'Munich' I thought they were seriously in thrall to Interpol- the guitar lines, vocal melodies and phrasing. Isn't it scarily obvious?Catchy but lead booted cos they ain't trascending their influences.

Editors - Blood

I like this. Editors are ace.
