The Sunshine Underground: Commercial Breakdown

What's in a name? Described elsewhere as "the precise synthesis of Led Zeppelin and Donna Summer," The Sunshine Underground are here and they've brought the summertime funk with them, albeit six months early. 'Commercial Breakdown' is only their second single, but promises to make them anything but underground.

Sounding as though they've never heard a Joy Division or Television LP, this Leeds four-piece have a penchant for fuzz pedals, extended solos and vocal histrionics. After a successful In The City and with patronage from everyone's favourite Kiwi DJ, this breezy, upbeat little number should cement their place as yet another Yorkshire success story.

More poppy, even, than the Kaisers and with considerable dancefloor filling potential, 'Commercial Breakdown' should soon be finding its way to a drive-time station near you.

Yeah .

I like this one, but the the record shop employette looked at me really stange weird when I asked if they had it in.

Excellent

Been getting a lot of airplay on 6music. Very strong vocal, and thought it was akin to Brandon Flowers. Ones to watch.

Too Brandon Flowers...

Seriously the guy has got Flower's voice absolutley nailed. Which is a shame because it's now cast a dark shadow over his band.

really

i think he sounds like he has emotion in his voice and even pushes it on occassions. flowers sings so laid back he's upside down.

Leeds?

They are from Shrewsbury, not as cool as Leeds. Probably why they moved. It's annoying to see them hyped as a "Yorkshire" sucess story though. Saw them last night in York, best gig I've been to for years.
