Northeast four-piece Dartz! can't make their mind up whether or not to go down the angular math path taken by the likes of Les Savy Fav or the scratchy post-punk variant more favoured by their fellow anglophile counterparts.
Which is all good so far as these ears are concerned, as it means we get to hear the best of both worlds thrown together in one complex yet instantly danceable tune.
'Once, Twice, Again!' may sound like a clarion cry to a sadomasochist's wet dream, but as a song itself it's more like the second record most of us had hoped The Futureheads would make, or where we think Maximo Park should be heading before the year's out.
Not that it makes much difference either way, as this stands up gracefully in its own right. One hundred and eighhhhtyyy!
I don't think I like Dartz
But I can never decide. Earls did a good review of this today on Planet Sound. 4/10 I think.
But
Earls likes The Feeling and The Scissor Sisters so I wouldn't take his dislike for Dartz! as a reason to ignore them.
woo! my band is playing
with this lot on valentines day. woop woop
Saw them last night
Thought they were bloody awful
Playnig with them 2 days later
Please leave them in a good mood for us. Thanks.
Oh no
Don't get me wrong, I'm not basing opinion solely on what he says, I have seen them once and have a couple of tracks.
I think he made a comment about wanting to be American...? Or something along those lines and I think that is what has always grated with me on the subject of Dartz... I just can't enjoy the vocals.
Hmm...
Can't understand why anyone would think these are trying to sound American either, as the Geordie accents shine through like Belisha beacons!
i know
it's rough, i can't decide whether i like 'em either
decent tune
going to see them in feb. I'll decide then
lurrrve them
Hmm not convinced
on record they're alright but saw them supporting the rumble strips before christmas and they were bloody awful....
brilliant
band, brilliant song. no idea why theyre not huge.
erm...
because this is there first proper single since siging to Xtramile?
i love everything about this song
can't wait for the album :D
Great tune.
Fucking ace.
But yes, last night, just like Goodbooks and Hot Club De Paris, completely sucked balls.
I haven't heard it
But I used to like Planet Sound.
They now like The Feeling and Razorlight though, so their opinion is void.
had this
in my head all day
its okay, if it was on in a club i'd enjoy it a lot more
but
this is an awesome track. 9/10 at least in opinion. They are awesome live as well.
Geordie? Four-piece??
Dom, Dom, Dom...
These dudes are from Teesside and they are a three-piece (although every now and again they have a saxophone player for a couple of songs). Tsk! ;)
They are my favourite band. Fact.
Love this tune (and their new album) and love them live. Although I may be a tad biased due to the above fact.
Ha Ha Ha!!!!!
Sorry Phil, forgot about the North East rivalry!
should b...
10/10 easy. Best song in a long long long time
Dartz will take your eye out
One of the highlights on the new album.
Proper top stuff.
