Charlene are dream pop from a dreamer who’s dreams come true. The kind of person who can hear the subtlest part buried in a song beneath so many layers. Like seeing something in the shape of a cloud that no else sees. They write for the dreamer who finds as much beauty in rushes of feedback as in a decent hook.
With their eponymous debut, Boston’s Charlene hypnotize and invite you into their sonic daydream where sounds pass like those mysterious clouds as your cares drift away with them. They could be graduates of the classic British shoegazing school, sounding as if they cheated off Spiritualized in a class taught by Jesus and Mary Chain.
Musically each song is as gentle as a warm breeze, a dense sound filled with gorgeous harmonies that take away your cares, putting comfort into sound with warm layers of guitars, drums and electronic effects. They write about things like waiting, wishing, wanting and not knowing. The simple things that when put to music create simple joys.
This is what should be heard when heartbreak hits or when you just don’t feel like doing anything.
As sonic explorers, Charlene take you on a journey to landscapes rarely climbed. Creating the kind of listening experience where your imagination is just as important as your ears. Each song creates a pillow full of lush sounds and proves that it’s ok to dream, wish and just be lazy.
