...at Nottingham Playhouse, am excited.
Short review tomorrow!
Playing in Nottingham on the eve of the Ashes starting at Trent Bridge.
is supposed to be Nasser Hussein btw
I'm clearly jealous. One thing's for sure living in America i'm fairly certain I will never be seeing The Duckworth Lewis Method here.
Neil Hannon & Thomas Walsh were on great form but was surprised by the fantastic musicianship from the other dudes. They actually sounded like a lost 70s prog-pop band at times, lush harmonies. Special mention to the bassist. AND Billy Cooper joined in on the trumpet (aka the Barmy Army trumpeter controversially banned from Trent Bridge this week).
Highlights were Age of Revolution (not even a favourite of mine but sounded awesome), Third Man, a ridiculous Line & Length, a funky as hell Nightwatchman & Out in the Middle. And Jiggery Pokery of course. No encore cos they ran out of time, imagine it would have been Mr Blue Sky, and no Matt Berry but I ain’t complaining. They got a well deserved standing ovation, set me right up for the Ashes and no mistake.
Some kind soul even put the setlist up - http://www.setlist.fm/setlist/the-duckworth-lewis-method/2013/nottingham-playhouse-nottingham-england-63d95e03.html
Anyone going to see them this year is in for a treat.
P.S. Nice tagging!
Great set, between song chat (especially from Thomas). I agree that the bassist was great and thought Billy Cooper was going to keel over - it was hot in there and he just turned redder and redder.
Think they might be on TMS on Friday lunchtime. They've been heavily promoting the new album and have appeared on plenty of radio shows.
for the tags. A fair few of them are my responsibility but hats off to all involved!
